All yachts in the charter group are designed and built to Australian standards with supervision and approval by the designer, Mark Pescott. The yachts are performance sailing catamarans of the Whitehaven design which has years of proven ocean going safety and international racing success. Even to an untrained eye, these beautiful sleek yachts stand out and exude class, performance and quality.

Interior
The largest of the yachts is a 12.7m Pescott Whitehaven sailing catamaran “Alba Dash” with the others being similar design but 11.2m. Accommodation includes 3 double cabins, one with an ensuite (electric toilet, shower and basin), one full double cabin and one small double cabin. The second communal “head” or bathroom has electric toilet, shower and wash basin. All water is pressurised with hot and cold including a shower on the rear steps for rinsing salt water off after swimming.

The large saloon is over the bridge deck area and the cockpit area are ideal for socialising with luxurious white leather covering, New Guinea Rosewood door surrounds and White Ash on the floor. Exposed Western Red Cedar beams on the ceiling add to the rich nautical finish throughout the boat and the well faired finish in white gives the interior a bright and light feeling that is not found in the older designed classic boats.

Ventilation is excellent throughout with through breezes to keep the boat cool and airy day and night and the cabins have mounted fans.

The galley has a gas 3 burner hotplates and oven/ grill and fridge and freezer at 100L each, keeping your drinks cold! The large chart table and electronic setup is suitable for long distance sailing but our skipper and crew will be the ones doing the work (unless you want to!)

Exterior
Two large trampoline areas at the bow are ideal for relaxing, reading or even sleeping at night should you wish. While sailing at speed with some swell, this area can be very exciting with waves breaking up through the tramps and cooling you off. The wide 7.4m width of the yacht gives a lot of space for relaxing, reading, fishing or photography and also provides stability giving a smooth ride.

The cockpit area is fully shaded – essential in the tropics and the steering station is central with good visibility over the saloon. The rear trampolines are smaller but good for using especially for fishing as retrieving the fish from this point is easy as you are close to the water.

The sterns both have access steps with the port side having the hot/cold pressurised shower – great for rinsing off the salt after swimming .

Tender / Dinghy
The tender (small dinghy) for the yacht is a 3.5m rigid bottomed inflatable (RIB) made by Aquapro with a 7.5hp outboard. It is easy to handle, safe and stable and moves fast under power. It is powerful enough for scurfing (waterskiing with a surfboard) if you want a bit of fun and makes transfers to beaches, coral heads and other boats nice and easy.

Performance
Sailing these catamarans is a joy and very easy. Being a catamaran, they are very stable during sailing and at anchor so the less than enthusiast ones amongst us will not be scared by the 30* or 45* lean that you get with monohulls – even the motorboats in rough seas! Our cats list no more than 10* so your drinks can be sat safely on the deck without falling over! Our galley does not need to be swung (gimballed) and walking around the boat when under way is easy.

There are 2 x 30hp Yanmar diesel engines that drive the boat at 6-7 knots with one engine and more with both engines on. Under sail, you can feel the power a grace as she glides effortlessly with very little attention to sail setting at speeds of 7 knots upwind and 10-15knots downwind. While we have sailed her at 20 knots for considerable distances, this tends to be too exciting to be enjoyable for most guests!

Most sailing is done under autohelm and the boats can be handled with the autohelm to speeds of 15+knots. For guests that want to learn how to sail and to get used to the steering process and sail setting, our skipper / crew can teach you during the cruise and you can do as much or as little of the yacht and sail handling as you want. It is a very good environment to practice your skills and get more confidence in yacht handling.
